Tinnitus Neuromodulation Device

wrapped status: wrapped packet 061f83e43811

Nothing on this page is a recommendation. It gathers what the packet already says into the order a decision reads it. Wrapped means finished enough to read, not judged.

The bet

A cheaper second entrant into a new category of tinnitus treatment device. Tinnitus — persistent ringing with no external source — has no cure, and the treatments doctors are told to offer are counselling and hearing aids. In 2023 the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) created a new device category for a different approach: playing sounds through headphones while delivering small timed electrical pulses to the body, so the brain re-learns to suppress the phantom sound. The device that created that category stimulates the tongue. This one would deliver the electrical half through a skin patch on the face or neck instead, be fitted remotely rather than in a clinic, and sell for less — aimed first at veterans, among whom tinnitus is unusually common.

What a decision does

  • Approve sets status: shortlisted — the only thing that lets /diligence start.
  • Reject or defer is recorded with your note; nothing further is unlocked.

Your decision

You are reading packet 061f83e43811.

Deciding from this page is not built yet — it needs a signature only your own device can make, so that no agent can produce one. Until then a decision is recorded by engine/scripts/human_decision.py, run by you in your own terminal.
